Summer Skin DIY: Exfoliant Sugar Scrub

So I mentioned this sugar scrub #DIY in a recent Youtube video that I have been using for YEARS and I thought I would share a little more about it here!

For those of you who don't know, I have had extremely sensitive skin since I was a child. I easily break out in rashes, develop reactions, or overall just feel discomfort if I use anything harsh or unnatural on my body...

When I was in high school, #shaving was truly a nightmare, and finding the right products (& recipes) that worked for my skin took quite some time.

This is when I took on the idea that women don't actually have to be smooth and hairless all the time & began opening up to society's standards for women. I embraced having hair on my body but to be honest, I just enjoy being smooth sometimes too! While having confidence with body hair, having the option to be silky smooth for occasions like prom & whenever I was feeling inclined was something I wanted to have as well.

I started looking into natural #skincare treatments I could do at home & ways to get the most healthy & #happy skin without harsh chemicals and expensive treatments.

One of the biggest things that keep my skin feeling healthy & without irritation is HYDRATION. This doesn't just mean to put on some lotion and hope you're smooth, but seriously hydrating your skin from the inside out. Drinking lots of water will keep your skin nourished, #glowing, & supple. But on top of staying hydrated, you can add moisture into your skin with nourishing all-natural products like #coconutoil, shea butter, olive oil, and more. Everyone's body will be different and some #nourishing products might work better for you than others. For nourishing the skin, I found that olive oil worked the best for me.

Keeping your skin #exfoliated will not only help with texture for silky smooth skin but it will also help to have a better shave!

Think about it, without exfoliating your skin first, running your razor down your leg will likely pick up more dead skin cells, dirt, dry flakes, etc than it will hair. When we go in to remove all of this on top of the skin first, we get a closer and more even shave too. This also helps decrease razor burns & bumps!

Using this sugar scrub before I shave or even just to feel a little softer whenever I'm feeling like it has really transformed the way my skin looks & feels!

1 1/2 cups white sugar

1/2 cup olive oil

2 tbs lime Juice

Again, this is what worked for me! Play around with different oils or butters, sugars, and I've even heard of people swapping lime juice for lemon or orange if you wanted to make it more aromatic! I hope this scrub treats your body with kindness.

Stay cheesin' for no reason!
